Parking

Many cars can be accommodated on-site. If everyone carpools, all cars will have a spot!
Handicapped parking will be available in designated spaces with proper tags.
It is important that teams park only in designated areas and respect all parking staff and signage. Cars parked on neighborhood streets, fire lanes, no parking zones or other illegal areas will be fined and/or towed. Parking is not permitted in surrounding neighborhoods or along Rt 9 – you will be TOWED!

Team Tents

Team tents will be permitted ONLY on the perimeter of the venue, the outer rim by the trees and along outside fences, away from all fields, buildings & walkways.
The best location is above the turf field on the site map identified as Team Tents!

Team Check-In

The coach of EACH team or club MUST CHECK IN at the Synapse Sports black tent well before your team’s first game. Two coaches per team will check the status of the team, provide on-site cell numbers and get any last minute directions. ALL waivers must be recorded or your team will not be permitted to take the field.

Competition

Each Bermuda grass field is lined to regulation size. No games are scheduled on the turf field.
Round robin games will consist of 2- 19 minute halves. Playoff games will consist of 2-12 min halves.
Water and Gatorade will be provided on each field. Please bring your own water bottle to fill. Gatorade will be provided to each team prior the first game. Mandatory water breaks will be implemented should the temperature surpass 93 degrees.

A leader board, by division of play, will be posted and updated to keep track of tournament scores.
The top teams will advance to the first round of the single elimination championship.
Tournament rules are listed in the program. US Women’s Lacrosse rules will be followed at ALL levels of play.
Scores will be kept by coaches (designated assistant) and official games score cards, initialed by both umpires, must be turned into closest field marshal following each game.

A field marshal will be on every two fields to maintain communications and to report the score to the official scorer after EACH game via walkie talkie.

Galaxy Nationals is a competitive event. EACH team will be challenged to play at a high level. To win a conference championship, your team must be able to compete with every team in that division.

There are 370 colleges that offer NCAA women’s lacrosse and each one receives a contact list of recruitable athletes registered to compete at Galaxy Nationals. While each of those programs has been individually invited, Galaxy Nationals does not require college coaches to register ahead of time. They do, however, sign in and you are welcome to look over the sheets to see who is on site.

Please note that most college coaches will come to scout a player interested in his/her program if notified, by the athlete, in advance.

Safety & Conveniences

Toilets are plentiful and strategically located near the fields.
Trash cans will be everywhere – please use them!
Trainers are on the field for first aid only- NOT FOR TAPING.
Dogs are not permitted on the grounds – LEAVE YOUR DOG AT HOME.
Anyone with a dog will promptly be asked to leave by security personnel.
Don’t forget the sunscreen.
Grills, and the cooking that goes with them, are prohibited.
There is no ATM at Kirkwood.
There will be a field marshal on every two fields under a Gatorade tent. These tents will be stocked with coolers of water and Gatorade to fill your bottle. Field marshals can communicate with event staff, security and trainers in cases of emergency. Please feel free to ask any questions or request emergency assistance.

Shoplifting

Shoplifting is a CRIME and will not be tolerated at womenslacrosse.com events.
Law enforcement officials will be monitoring LAXMALL activities.
Anyone caught shoplifting will be immediately expelled from the tournament and will not be allowed to participate in any future Galaxy events. The continued participation of the shoplifter’s team may also be jeopardized. Vendors are encouraged to prosecute shoplifters under the full extent of the law.
We strongly suggest that parents and coaches reiterate this policy to players in advance as there will be no exceptions.

Sportsmanship

Sportsmanship RULES at Galaxy Nationals. Anyone violating the good sportsmanship expected of all players, coaches, fans and parents will be promptly presented with a Purple Card and escorted from the venue.

Inclement Weather

While we hope for glorious weather this weekend – please understand there is no Plan B.

  • As with any outdoor event, competition is subject to the elements. Tournament play may be suspended or canceled as a result of inclement weather or field safety conditions.
  • Safety dictates that competition will cease if thunder is heard or lightning spotted.
  • Games will not be re-scheduled. Games will re-start, in real time, 20 minutes after the last bolt was sighted or sooner if the sky clears.
  • If your game is canceled due to weather, please see the official scorer for your playoff status.

Chesapeake Foods  will be on site serving food & drinks, while Melvin and his snowball trucks, will be conveniently located throughout the venue. The retail vendors that will be participating at Galaxy Nationals are  Arya B, Fast Break Sports, KB Designs, Moyer Sports, STX and Wave One.

 

ICE – will be available for purchase on site at the Synapse Sports black tent. $5 / bag.

 

The Draw 2010, the recruiting guide for the recruit and the official yellow pages of women’s college lacrosse will be available for purchase at the Synapse Sports black tent. If you’re in the class of 2011- you should already know everything in the publication! If you’re in the class of 2012 or 2103, The Draw is the ultimate reference. If you are a Riser (class of 2014 & lower), you won’t need this publication  . . . yet!
